Q: This is our second year with the eco system, and we had to start over due to a liner replacement. We ran the bleach in the pool for 2 weeks as indicated, and I just started switching over to the copper. The copper
level is about .5 or .6 and I ran the oxidize for about 12 hours today, and when I checked the pool tonight, it is VERY cloudy with a milky white cloudiness.

I looked in the manual and it talked about the de-scaling process causing this, but would that be the case with only having run the chlorine for 2 weeks prior to switching over to the eco?

ph is at 7.14 and calcium is over 400.

Should I continue to keep the oxidize going?

A:

We need the ph at 6.8, the milky look is not likely de-scale or over oxygenation unless this is a swim spa/pool of 3500 gallons or less. Filter pressure and spring maintenance inside the filter could be the source, lower ph and put nothing else in the water, If this is a sand or zeolite filter an overnight acid wash at spring open may have avoided this look which is typically early algae growth. Never adjust the ph up, if you over adjust to 6.6 the pool will run better than at 7.14 The pressure must be up at least one to two lbs with the . Hold off on the algaecide until the pool ahs a day running at 6.8 and the pressure is rising. Acid wash the filter, one gallon muriatic acid per 300lbs overnight if no pressure rise occurs after lowering the ph to the recommended level. One parameter on the edge in May is all that is needed to get the pollen active (or mold if indoor).
