ECOsmarte uses Glasspack Media, Natural Oxygen and Ionic Copper on all sites. The CO2 is used when a site does not have a sensor driven acid feeder OR as trends indicate the site wishes to eliminate acid. Our Programmable System with CO2 for pH Control and Including Chlorine Injection priced at $6,995 is competitive with all CO2 options. Setting the pool up with a free chlorine ppm sensor and metering pump to operate at either 0.5ppm EURO and some US States or 1.0ppm FREE CHLORINE for balance US States; $6,995 is the price.

It is important to understand ORP and why our system will NOT work with an ORP meter.

As the Dissolved Oxygen in the pool rises, the ORP measured in millivolts actually falls. An ORP pool wants high millivolts (500 to 800) and the sensor doses constantly, forming total chlorine and chloramine. With ECOsmarte technology, a high DO level in the pool means that chloramine compounds are prevented and the PPM controller allows the .5ppm (EURO,CANADIAN,AUSTRALIAN, GERMAN) setting to deliver .5ppm FREE CHLORINE and .5PPM TOTAL CHLORINE, no combinated chlorine occurs if we match the gallons of water and bather load to the size of the pool. The number of CU/OXY CELLS, CONTROLLERS and CO2 injectors can be properly configured. We use liquid chlorine only without cyanuric acid (referred to as "stabilizer and conditioner"). The use of solid stabilized chlorines can be problematic as the copper is a transition metal/salt and can combinate with the inert ingredients in the cheaper chlorination options. The ECOsmarte commercial buyer is looking for a safer alternative with enhanced performance an added benefit (COPPER WITH TRACE CHLORINE KILLS Microbes faster than either sanitizer alone). A high ORP (750 millivolts) pool, while meeting a public health requirement, does not guarantee the pool is free from LEGIONELLA, Cryptosporidum, Pseudonomas strains, or Poliovirus and the pool can literally smell like a public urinal. Exceptions to this ORP loophole can occur with large OZONE systems that generate 80 grams of oxygen or more per hour. The O3 radical is injected from the air into the water, never forming an increase in the DISSOLVED OXYGEN LEVEL AND RUNNING 24/7 INDEPENDENT OF THE ORP meter. These are high amperage, high voltage injection systems vs the 4 to 6 WATTS DC and milliamperage with ECOsmarte's platinum based system. OZONE SYSTEMS can range in price from $60,000 to $250,000 for the same 150,000 gallon pool, not to mention the extremely high operating cost in terms of electricity and bulb replacement. OZONE compatibility with ORP is their great market advantage until the prospect learns of the ECOSMARTE Option. Pricing Note: DO NOT UNDERPRICE these configs -- COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS sell for double or triple the residential items, even though the products are similar. There is both an expensive sales and marketing process as well as significant cost to train and monitor a new commercial site.

No taste or odor occurs in the ECOsmarte pool when the free chlorine value equals the total chlorine. In Minnesota and Singapore THE CONTROLLER must be set at 1.0 which will also deliver 1.0 FREE and TOTAL CHLORINE. Only the most sensitive or perceptible swimmer can notice 1.0 total chlorine, the lack of chloramine keeps compounds from forming and on indoor pools the pool room wall maintenance is eliminated. Sandblasting and refinishing of the pool room is an annual budget item in many hotels. Maximum total chlorine is regulated worldwide, the EU standard for Maximum TOTAL CHLORINE is 1.5PPM, MN is 5.0 TOTAL and CA and FL now both allow 50PPM without closing the pool. The ECOsmarte Dealer must define the standard in their local area and also be aware that ENVIRONMENTAL Technology Permits are commonly available for low bather environments often found in upscale golf and ski clubs, hospital therapy pools and exclusive homeowner associations. The US is the only Country we are aware of where most states do not require the swimmers to be counted, although we suspect the Pacific Rim Countries will fall in that same group. By ordering the PPM Controller and Metering pump with the ECOsmarte Programmable, we are also able to deliver NSF listed controllers. Existing ACID feeders on the pool are often utilized and set at 7.2 in a regulated chlorine environment.

ALARMS are highly recommended as more people are hurt by out-of-control acid feeders than by microbes on an annual basis. Electrocution and drowning accidents also far exceed these events; we can use our relatively low wattage against both OZONE and the limited trend towards use of salt chlorination in commercially regulated water. Most customers will abandon their acid feeders, particularly school districts when shown the CO2 option as the insurance carriers have made them well aware of the risks and American OSHA regulators insist on two people carrying one gallon of acid if two or more steps are involved. Most equipment rooms involve a stairwell. It should also be remembered that liquid acid and any form of chlorine are EXPLOSIVE -- a fact our US Embassies have figured out, resulting in two or three unsolicited ECOsmarte sales this year. The Chilean Navy also ordered with this awareness.

The copper in an ECOsmarte public pool runs at the .3 to .5ppm level and can be easily programmed, often ionizing twice per week and usually requiring copper bar replacement every three to six months. This operating cost along with the 50 to 80 per cent lower chemical expense should be presented in the quotation.

In the US market we insist the pool have GLASSPACK Media first -- making the dealer a hero as 75 percent of the water and 25 percent of the chemical is saved, regardless of the configuration used.

We are also aware that human cells, skin or blood are approximately 9 microns in size, and in Commercial Pools the build permit on the pump/filter is highly regulated in terms of both bed depth and flow-through. Our Glass Media has proven successful in pulling human cells within these parameters. Humans exfoliate 1 BILLION SKIN CELLS per swimmer. In a sand filtered pool these cells are only removed through a shock or flocculent, usually both EVERY WEEK and 99 per cent of Commercial Pools have sand filters, with Cartridges being illegal and DE filters impractical.

ADDITIONAL TURBOS CAN BE USED:

NOTES ON CHLORINE FEEDERS:
• Many apartment buildings and retirement condo associations will purchase the feeder to clear their annual inspection and NOT FILL the reservoir the rest of the year.ECOsmarte cannot endorse this in most regions.
• Areas without annual inspections will purchase without the feeder. If the first inspection occurs the pool manager can claim their 2 skimmer pucks dissolved and possibly add the chlorine injector later.

Human cells, skin or blood average nine microns in size. With a sand filter these cells are only removed from the pool by shock chlorination or flocculent. A Glass Media filter alone will pull these cells out of the pool with the 2-5 micron rating. A Glasspack filter also loads the entire filter bed as opposed to the top six to twelve inches on a 20 quartz silica or zeolite loaded sand filter. CONFIRM the GLASS filter media has been sterilized if you buy less expensive options.

By loading the entire filter bed, Glasspack® backwashes 75% less than sand and 50% less than the porous surface zeolites. The chemicals (chlorine, pH) and the labor are immediately reduced by at least 25% regardless of the sanitation system used.
This assumes Glasspack® media, NOT the less expensive plate glass or quartz.

The addition of O2 oxygen from the ECOsmarte controller prevents the formation of combinated or total chlorine when a PPM sensor is used with liquid sodium hypochlorite. The free chlorine test should equal the total chlorine reading if the appropriate number of controllers are installed in the pool. The high dissolved oxygen level in the pool lends itself to a potassium based non-chlorine shock if an unexpected bather load spike or extruded power outage occurs. The ECOsmarte program values are retained in a "super cap" for nine calendar days in lieu of a battery. The controller has been engineered to a U.S. Military oven specification, operating 30 straight days at 177 degrees Fahrenheit or 80.56 Celsius.

MICROBE CONTROL:
The copper residual is stable
 
Coliform and ECOLI: Copper and trace chlorine kills faster than chlorine.
Legionella: Copper toxic according to Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Cryptosporidium: Copper toxic according to The National Institute of Health (NIH).
FOR Poliovirus, Pseudonomas, Protozoan and Biofilms: Copper alone is effective, trace chlorine may or may enhance the proven copper kill on these microbes.

SWIMMING ENVIRONMENT

Free Chlorine and Total Chlorine should be identical or close on most days. At .5 or 1.0 free chlorine there is no noticeable chemical in the pool or pool area. The swimming environment is the reason sites purchase, not the money savings on chemicals. The ECOsmarte interactive cloud allws for logging test results in English or Spanish at no cost.
